Subdomain Setup (Without SSL Server Certificate File)

Info
Purpose:
This guide explains how to set up a subdomain when an SSL server certificate file is not available.
⏱ Estimated time: ~15min
Notes
Depending on the DNS update frequency and TTL (priority) settings of the property’s DNS provider, it may take from the same day up to approximately 10 days for search results to be redirected to the subdomain.
For specific timelines, please contact the DNS provider in advance.
For more details about subdomains, please refer to Subdomain Setup for Booking Widget(BW).

When DNS is managed by the hotel, DNS settings can be changed directly.
A subdomain name can be freely decided and a CNAME record can be configured.
▼Examples:
booking.hotel-domain.com
reserve.hotel-domain.com
■If DNS is not managed in-house:
If DNS is managed by a rental DNS service or an external hosting provider, subdomain naming may be restricted depending on the service rules
In this case, subdomain configuration may need to be handled by the rental DNS service or external provider.

Step 6Booking WidgetThe subdomain setup for the booking widget is now complete.
WarningWhen switching to the iframe subdomain version, it is recommended to configure First-Party Cookie settings first, and then proceed with Subdomain Settings. If Subdomain Settings are completed before First-Party Cookie settings, pop-up blocking may occur.

2. Register the Subdomain URL

Enter the acquired subdomain URL in the Subdomain URL field.

Warning
  1. The subdomain cannot be used if a trailing “/” is added.
  2. Entering values starting with “www.” or “https://” will also result in an error.
▼Examples
- Incorrect: booking.tripla-ryokan.com/
- Correct: booking.tripla-ryokan.com
*Please ensure that “tripla” is not included in the actual subdomain URL.

3. SSL Certificate Settings

  1. From the SSL server certificate dropdown, select [I don't have a SSL certificate] and click [Save] once.
  2. After saving the subdomain URL, verification CNAME record information will be displayed within approximately 1–2 hours.

4. DNS Record Setup: Verification CNAME Record

Info
  1. The verification CNAME record is valid for 72 hours only. Please complete the verification CNAME record setup from the DNS record settings screen within this time frame.
  2. If the booking widget is converted to a subdomain by following the procedure under [I don't have a SSL certificate] on this page, the SSL Server Certificate validity is automatically renewed via a tripla partner service.
  3. After completing the subdomain setup, do not delete the verification CNAME record from the DNS record settings screen. If the verification CNAME record is removed, the SSL Server Certificate validity cannot be renewed by the tripla partner service. Once the certificate expires, the subdomain-based booking widget will no longer be accessible.
Please ensure that the verification CNAME record configured in the DNS record settings screen is not deleted.
Once the CNAME record is issued, enter the "CNAME record URL" in the DNS record settings screen of the contracted DNS provider for the target subdomain.

In such cases, adjust the input to match the verification CNAME record shown in the tripla admin screen.

4.2 Verification CNAME Record – Second Line (CNAME Target)

  1. On some DNS provider admin screens, the leading underscore (_) cannot be omitted. If input is not accepted, the trailing period (.) may be omitted.

4.3 CNAME Record Verification

Verification (DNS Lookup)
Detail
DNS Lookup site can be used to verify whether Step 2 has been configured correctly.
・Open the DNS Lookup site and copy the CNAME record displayed in the tripla admin screen.

Paste the copied CNAME record into the Enter any Valid URL field and select [lookup DNS].

If the "Canonical Name" displayed under CNAME matches the value shown in the tripla admin screen, the configuration is correct.

5. Register CNAME Record

  1. Once the verification CNAME record is configured in the admin screen of the contracted DNS provider, the CNAME Record URL is issued within 1 to 72 hours and displayed in the tripla admin screen.
  1. Enter the CNAME Record URL shown in Step 3 of the tripla admin screen into the Value field for the target subdomain on the DNS record settings screen (the admin screen of the contracted DNS provider).

5.1 CNAME Record Verification

Verify that Step 3 has been configured correctly using DNS Lookup Site.
Enter the subdomain URL from Step 1 into the DNS Lookup screen.
Select [Lookup DNS] to display the results.
・If the "Canonical Name" shown under the CNAME section matches the CNAME record displayed in Step 3 of the tripla admin screen, Step 3 has been configured correctly.

6.Reconfiguration

If reconfiguration is required because the setup could not be completed within 72 hours, select [Reset] at the bottom of the screen to clear the existing settings, then perform the setup again.

7. Set up Meta tags

  1. Meta tags(Meta elements) are used to define information about a document (page).
  2. When configured here, they are written within the HTML elements of the subdomain-based booking widget and serve to provide website information to search engines.
  3. The content defined in meta tags is not displayed on the website itself.
  4. However, information specified in meta elements such as title and description may appear in search engine results or when the page is shared on social media.

7.1 Title

  1. When converting the booking widget to a subdomain, page title settings are required to maintain the brand concept displayed in the browser.
Enter the desired page title for each page type, such as:
Accommodation Plan List, Guest Information Entry, Payment Information Entry, and Reservation Completion.
Info
  1. The variables {{facility_name}} and {{brand_name}} can be used in the title fields. These variables automatically display the facility name and brand name.
  1. If necessary, page titles can also be set for languages other than Japanese.
Since the booking widget language switches based on the user’s browser language, configuring multilingual page titles is recommended.

8. Favicon

  1. A favicon is an image file used as a website symbol (icon).
  2. Once configured, it appears next to the website title in the browser tab.
